Low FODMAP Pure Premium Peppermint Tea for IBS - Caffeine Free Herbal Tea, 1oz

Product Description

Peppermint (Mentha piperita), a popular flavoring for gum, toothpaste, and tea, is also used to soothe IBS, an upset stomach or to aid digestion. It has a calming and numbing effect, and is often used to treat headaches, skin irritation, nausea, diarrhea, menstrual cramps, flatulence, and anxiety associated with depression. It is also an ingredient in chest rubs used to treat symptoms of the common cold. In test tubes, peppermint kills some types of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, suggesting it may have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Menthol and methyl salicylate, the main ingredients in peppermint, have antispasmodic effects, with calming effects on the gastrointestinal tract. Several studies support the use of peppermint for indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome.

Peppermint tea is a tisane (infusion) of peppermint and is sometimes referred to as mint tea. Peppermint is versatile, which makes it very popular as it mixes well with other herbal teas and some non-herbal teas. It can be consumed either hot or cold and many prefer it as a bedtime tea.

The best peppermint comes from the northwestern United States where the pure, moist mountain air of the spring and early summer growing season gives our peppermint some of the highest volatile oil counts of any member of the mint family. Depending on that years growing conditions the second cut, which typically occurs during the middle to end of August is considered the most flavorful. Our peppermint is a 1st grade Autumn harvest.

The flavor profile of our Peppermint tea is fresh, cool and pungent with hints of menthol.

The liquor is a bright greenish yellow.
